ECOG on the 13th
June 1995 organized variety show of learning and fun for 1st and 2nd
cycle institutions in Accra as part of the activities marking this
year’s World Environment Day. The day has been set aside by the UN to
create awareness on environmental issues.
A special photo exhibition
environmental degradation was organized as part of the fair. The show
which was well attended was characterized by educational talks on the
need to protect and maintain the environment, songs and poetry recitals
on the environment, environmental quizzes as well as music and dancing.
Addressing the program Mr Doe
Atsiatome, programs Officer of the EPA Ghana called on the youth and
children to keep their environment clean and to avoid activities such as
littering that could degrade the environment.
Ms Sakeena K. Bonsu stressed the
need for all to stop the indiscriminate felling off trees and urged
youth to adopt and learn to dispose of rubbish properly.
